Wortley Cottage dates back to the 17th century and is so full of character. It has undergone a major refurbishment by its owner, who is a designer. The property will soon be featured in Homes and Gardens, as well as several other magazines.
Whilst been given a complete makeover with a Hampton’s look, mainly using Farrow and Ball whites and soft tones of blue, all the original features have been retained. All the old beams and wide oak floor boards and batten doors have all been painted soft white – giving the whole cottage a nice light feel. The attic rooms benefit from having open ceiling with exposed roof trusses which have been lime washed. All modern day necessities have been added subtley. Lots of tongue and groove panelling has been used throughout the cottage giving it a lovely beachy theme. From the master bedroom a pebbled floor en-suite shower room has been added. The main bathroom, with its original stone open fireplace, has a roll top bath, where a candle lit bath can be enjoyed. The open plan kitchen has the benefit of all built in appliances, aswell as an original stone range fireplace. Dining table seating six. The cottage has a nice mixture of antiques and modern furnishings, ornaments, pictures and lots of nice homely touches, with candles and soft lighting, all making it a pleasant retreat for you to enjoy a relaxing break.
